Release the key the moment the engine starts to prevent over-cranking the starting motor. Proceed to then gradually push down the choke knob and ensure that it has been completely turned off. The engine should still be running smoothly.
Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes at the medium speed before you begin mowing.
Avoid keeping the start motor activated for more than 15 seconds per starting cycle as this can damage the motor.
